Patients and their families can buy stamps, weigh parcels for shipping and determine postage by zip code at the postal service center off the main hospital lobby. Several ATM machines are located nearby, as well as in the lobby of the Outpatient Center, across from the coffee shop.

 

Automated Teller Machines

ATMs are located near the Wolfe Street entrance of the hospital and across from the Coffee Bar on Level 1 in the Outpatient Center.

Billing

The scheduling staff in Electrophysiology Services will review your insurance information and work with you to determine your insurance coverage and what portion of your stay may be your financial responsibility.

Dining

  • Inpatient meals: Breakfast generally is served between 7:30 and 9:30 a.m.; lunch between 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.; and dinner between 4:30 and 6:30 p.m. Special diets will be provided as requested by your physician. Should you have dietary restrictions for personal or religious reasons, please tell your nurse. Gourmet meal service, a select group of entrees served on china with linen and flowers, is available at an additional cost. Please call 410-955-6858 at least 24 hours in advance to order your gourmet meal.

  • Cafeteria: Meals, sandwiches and snacks are offered at the hospital cafeteria Monday through Friday from 6:15 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily, with limited menus from 10:30 a.m. to 11 a.m., 2 p.m. to 4:45 pm, and 7:15 p.m. to 8 p.m. Vending machines are available 24 hours. The cafeteria is located in the center of the hospital's main level.

  • Coffee Bar: Level 1, Outpatient Center Coffee Bar is located next to the concourse to the hospital and operates from 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. The coffee bar is a service of the Women's Board of The Johns Hopkins Hospital, a non-profit organization. All proceeds benefit patient care.

  • Corridor Cafe: Located in the Carnegie building, the café offers fast food service. Open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday. Call 410-655-5848 for a recording of daily specials.

  • Express Oasis: Located just inside the main hospital lobby, this coffee bar offers light lunches, pastries, and desserts. Hours are 5:30 a.m. to 2 a.m.

  • Grille 601: Located on the plaza level of the Outpatient Center, Grille 601 provides upscale cafeteria dining. Open 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.

  • Hampton House Café: On the first level of Hampton House, the Café offers cafeteria style breakfast and lunch, 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.
  • Tower Terrace: Located in the Nelson building, this restaurant has attractive surroundings, table service, and a relaxing atmosphere. The Terrace is open 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and 11 a.m. to 2:45 p.m., Friday for lunch. Dinner is 4 p.m. to 7:15 p.m. Monday through Thursday and is closed for dinner on Friday.   • Vending Machines: Located in the main hospital cafeteria along the west wall, this group of machines dispenses entrees, yogurt, snacks, fruit, candy, gum, and in warm weather, ice cream bars. A bill changer machine is available. Some machines located throughout the building dispense beverages and candy.


The Johns Hopkins Outpatient Center Coffee Bar is a project of the Women's Board, a nonprofit organization dedicated to patient care at Johns Hopkins. The shop offers regular and specialty coffees, soft drinks and other beverages, soups, sandwiches, fresh fruit, a wide variety of desserts and other lunch accompaniments. The coffee shop is located at the rear of the Outpatient Center lobby, next to the tunnel connecting the building to the main hospital.

Florist

The Flower Cart is located off the main Wolfe Street entrance near the Gift Shop. Orders may be delivered to patients in their rooms; FTD and local delivery also are available. Hours: Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Saturday and Sunday from 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Call 410-955-6822.

Gift Shops

The gift shops are operated by the Women's Board of The Johns Hopkins Hospital, a volunteer organization. One is located off the main Wolfe Street entrance, the other in the lobby of the Outpatient Center. Magazines, cards, novelty items, cosmetics and gifts are available. Proceeds from sales are used to benefit patient care. Hours: Monday through Friday from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm; Saturday and Sunday 10:30 am to 3:00 pm.

Guest Services


The gift shops in the main hospital and Outpatient Center are both projects of theWomen's Board, a nonprofit organization dedicated to patient care at Johns Hopkins. The large gift shop off the main hospital lobby features a wide selection of gifts, greeting cards, magazines, candy snacks, toiletries, Hopkins sportswear in all sizes including toddler's, and seasonal items.

 

For assistance with directions, hotels, and local attractions, call 410-614-5100 or visit the hospital office in the Nelson Lobby, near the Wolfe Street entrance. In the Outpatient Center, go to the first floor lobby, or call 410-955-2696. Available Monday through Friday, 9a.m. to 5 p.m.

Libraries

The Patient Library, located at Carnegie 173, is open 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday. Books, magazines, games, puzzles, and playing cards are available on loan free of charge to patients and families. The Family Resource Center & Children's Library is located at Children's Center 301 and is open 11:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday. It offers medical information for patients and families, children's books, magazines, and videotapes. Call 410-955-6442.

Lost and Found

Lost and Found is located in the Security Office off the main hospital lobby and is open 24 hours.

Marburg Pavilion


The Marburg Pavilion provides privacy and luxury to patients and their families. This lounge area includes television, video games and computer ports.

 

Located in the historic Marburg Building, the Marburg Pavilion offers deluxe accommodations for adult patients. A limited number of private rooms and two-room suites are available for an additional charge and feature fine wood furniture, private baths, entertainment centers, and an array of services, such as expanded dining menus and overnight sleeping accommodations for family members. Mass Transit Administration

A full-service MTA Metro subway station is located between the Outpatient Center and the hospital on the Concourse level. Bus service also is available. Call 410-539-5000 for information on the metro subway line from Owings Mills or bus routes to the hospital.

Parking

Johns Hopkins has five parking facilities available to patients and their families. The Broadway Garage, which is linked to the hospital via a bridge at the fourth level, is the primary patient and visitor parking lot for the hospital. Patients in need of a wheelchair should be brought to the main Wolfe Street entrance before parking the car. On the day of patient discharge, free parking is available to families at the Wolfe Street lot. Please have your parking ticket validated at the admitting office on the day of discharge.

Parking for the Johns Hopkins Outpatient Center is available in the McElderry Street garage, which is off Caroline Street. Wheelchairs are available at the main entrance.

Patients and families who need parking facilities over an extended period of time may wish to purchase discounted parking coupons from the cashier's office in Nelson 121 between 7:30 a.m. and 4:15 p.m. Monday through Friday; on weekends this service is available at the Broadway Garage parking office. Pastoral Care

The hospital chaplain is available to provide for your emotional and spiritual needs. To speak with the chaplain, arrange a visit, or to request a cleric of a particular faith, please call 410-955-5842 during the day. Evenings and weekends, ask your nurse to contact a chaplain. Your own cleric is always welcome at the hospital. Also, an interfaith chapel located in the first-floor lobby of the Children's Center is available for private prayer and meditation 24 hours a day.

Family and friends may dial 410-502-4000 for your room location and a brief description of your condition. If you wish this information to be withheld, please inform your nurse.

Patient Representatives

Patient representatives are available to help resolve any concerns about your care, to interpret the policies and procedures of the hospital, and arrange for services you may need. Please call 410-955-CARE (2273) to speak with a patient representative. Hours are 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., and the office is located in the hospital at Carnegie 100.

Pharmacy

A complete prescription service, Johns Hopkins Pharmaquip, Inc., is located on the first floor of the Outpatient Center. Prescriptions can be delivered to patient rooms; most third-party prescription plans are accepted. Hours: Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Call 410-955-3733 or have your prescriptions faxed to 410-614-3733.

Postal Services

Incoming mail is delivered to patient rooms. A self-service postal center for stamps and U.S. Postal Service pickup is located off the main Wolfe Street entrance, across from the Gift Shop.

Registration Staff

Upon arrival at The Johns Hopkins Hospital, you will meet with a member of the registration team who will ask you for your personal and insurance information. IF you are going to be admitted to the hospital this person also will arrange your room accommodation. Patients who would like telephone service during their hospitalization should either bring their own telephone or buy the inexpensive phones provided by the hospital.

Sign Language

Deaf and hearing-impaired patients can arrange for interpreters or use the TTY in the patient relations office, Carnegie 100 in the hospital, or in the Outpatient Center on Level 1. For more information, call 410-955-2273.

Shuttle Service

Shuttles to and from the Outpatient Center enable patients to avoid the hassles of directions and parking. Patients can ride free from Green Spring Station, Bayview or the Homewood Campus of Johns Hopkins University to come to the downtown medical center on the shuttle buses. Parking is also available downtown adjacent to the main buildings.

 

Complimentary shuttle service is available weekdays to and from The Johns Hopkins Hospital, Bayview Medical Center and Green Spring Station. Patients need only show their appointment confirmation letter to ride free from any location to the other. Shuttle service to and from the hospital is available 24 hours a day to accompany visitors to their cars or residences within the immediate hospital area. Please dial 410-502-6880 for assistance.

Travel Agency

The hospital has arranged special rates (and shuttle service in some instances) at several local hotels for patients and their families. Travel Guide, a full-service travel agency, is available to help patients and families with air, hotel, or ground accommodations. The agency is located near the main Wolfe Street entrance. Valuables

Johns Hopkins suggests that you leave your valuables at home, as it is difficult to protect them in a busy hospital environment.

Visiting Hours

Visiting hours vary according to the different hospital units. Your nurse can provide the visiting hours for the Electrophysiology Program.
